Did You Know...
- Common household items such as toothpaste, vitamins and salt can be toxic to a child when more than a normal amount is ingested.
- Wicker furniture and baskets could pose a problem - if your baby breaks off pieces they can become choking hazards.
- Refrigerator magnets can also become choking hazards if they fall to the floor and break into small pieces.
- Babies should not be encouraged to play with pots and pans. They may see them as toys on the stove and try to reach for them. Plasticware is a better alternative.
- Table clothes should be removed or replaced with placemats to prevent baby from pulling objects onto himself or herself.
- Plants can create a number of hazards. Many common household plants are poisonous if ingested and their dirt, pebbles and leaves can be choking hazards. It is best to move plants out of baby's reach or find a new home for them until your child is older.
- Items such as aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and wax paper should be stored out of baby's reach or in a locked cabinet. The serrated box edges are sharp and could easily cut a child.
